He is acknowledging that his journey of a writer in intertwined with his exploration of his own life story. He sees his writing as self discovery and a form of self reflection. He used language in sentences to construct his narrative.

  1. I like the first quote you shared. I think that Rodriguez is trying to promote cultural inclusion. Being bilingual does open up new perspectives, and uses both sides of the brain. Having this skill makes us more intelligent.

  3. The second quote that you gave is really powerful when reading the text. The reader can really see how Rodriguez is self reflecting on these major issues that shaped his life. You can feel how much he misses those memories he shared speaking Spanish with his family.
